Abstract
The purpose of this study is to find the relation between the voluntary attitude and contentment toward the elderly, the attitude toward the elderly, and the awareness of supporting. The focus of this study is the changing awareness of supporting which would affect the real supporting behaviors to the elderly. The sample was 201university students, who were in Busan, who had experienced the voluntary activities toward the elderly. To analyze the data, frequency analysis, confidentiality analysis, factor analysis, T-test, ANOVA, and regression was used. As a result, one of factors on the voluntary activities attitude, which is self-growing type, affected the attitude toward the elderly positively. Also, as the contentment of voluntary activities was higher, the awareness of supporting was higher, and, as the attitude toward the elderly was more positive, the awareness of supporting was higher. Therefore, there were partial mediating effects of the attitude toward the elderly between the voluntary attitude or contentment and the awareness of supporting. From this context, we have to consider not only the quantitative growths of voluntary activities of university students but also the qualitative management of it. In other words, the efforts of the universities, related institutions, and society are needed to the more active participatory attitude and the more contentment.
